I would also like to introduce my favorite lyricist, 林夕. I deeply admire the delicate and elegant, yet unconstrained, quality of his lyric writing. What moves me most is how he pours his talent and emotions into music across many different styles. He has written energetic pop rocks such as 《我的快樂時代》 and 《快樂崇拜》, subtle love songs such as 《情意結》, 《暗湧》, and 《玻璃之情》, as well as songs that reflect on life and its larger questions, such as 《任我行》 and 《再見二丁目》, and also, songs for the time, for example, 《歌頌》 and 《六月飛霜》.

A recurring philosophy in his lyrics is the art of letting go: letting go of worldly success, of unrequited love, and even of life and death. This also gives many of his works a quiet, almost Zen-like (禪意) quality. His literary talent allows his writing to move freely across styles, and this is something I aspire to in my own work as well: to apply mathematics across different fields and create work that is both rigorous and interesting.
